Brooks plans to use the CM Punk name that made him a former WWE champion before his controversial departure earlier this year. It was one of the subjects discussed in an Associated Press story about his signing with the UFC earlier this month.
“I’ve come this far with CM Punk. That’s what people know,” Punk said. “I’m trying to stick with that. I’m not shying away from it. I’m not ashamed of it.”
Punk has not shied away regarding his time in WWE, most of which were aired in a podcast last month that included his frustration of not being selected to be the main event in WWE pay-per-views. Even during his last championship run, which lasted more than 400 days between 2011-13, Punk was bypassed by John Cena and Randy Orton, among others.
